Research nework activities

With Science and Heritage Research Cluster funding, Ivory Research ran a series of Ivory Workshops during 2009 in Liverpool, London and York, bringing together a vibrant and growing network of ivory specialists. At these meetings, dialogue between art-historians, archaeologists, archivists, historians, fine art restorers, conservators, chemists, collections curators, physicists, biologists, ecologists and private collectors have flourished, promoting greater understanding, identifying critical deficiencies in our knowledge, fostering new research directions and collaborations, and developing protocols for best practise for the sampling and analysis of ivories.

The members of this network are continuing to contribute to the development of this website as an ivory research resource.

Future Events

Ivory Research will continue to organise meetings and workshops on all aspects of ivory research across Europe and beyond.
